Virtual Workshop
Wed 31st Aug 2022 @ 7.30pm We will be doing a virtual playreading (on zoom) of Brian Quinns play OII. (Othello II) on the 31st August @ 7.30pm.
This is a modern take on Shakespeare's Othello with all the characterisation, heroes, villains, scheming and planning that was in the original.
In this version, a theatre company is travelling and performing "Othello" and are planning a 3 month tour of Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. Ken never gets the best parts, Michael Cassidy has the lead part, (Othello), in the play and Ken is plotting against him and Oliver, the Artistic Director, who has the main villain (Iago), because he keeps getting overlooked . Add in Desiree (Desdemona) who may or may not be having relations with a member of the company, Roger who is in love with Desiree, Mr Barry who isn't happy about his daughter's possible de-flowerment, Emily, Roger and Mr Duke and a cast of thousands (theoretically) and we have everything needed* for some hubble, bubble, toil and trouble!
We are looking to pre-cast some of the roles for the play reading so if you are interested please let us know and we can send you the script. Other roles will be cast on the night.
If you are interested in attending and / or playing a character please contact firedoortheatre@gmail.com.
Starting on the 6th July we're going to work on some good two-hander scenes(about 5-10 mins long) for 3 weeks.
Part of the time in class will be spent working on the scene and the rest of the time will be spent performing it in front of the rest of the class!
